While some California college professors remain concerned about students using generative AI such as ChatGPT to cheat in class, a growing number are choosing to encourage its limited use in classroom assignments. From analyzing films to writing research proposals, the assignments seek to convey the benefits of AI as a research tool while acknowledging its limitations and propensity for error.

Rocky Walker is a senior at California State University, Northridge pursuing a bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism and English: Creative Writing. He is currently a Senior Editorial Assistant at the KCSN 88.5FM where he manages multiple live newscasts daily and hosts his own specialty newscast, “Gems of the Valley." He found a passion for journalism in high school with his first experiences coming from The Know Youth Media. Since, he has expanded his work to YR Media, The Daily Sundial, hosted and produced CSUN’s official podcast “Where Matadors Belong” and anchored the broadcast news show “Valley View News." Before moving to Los Angeles, Rocky is originally from Fresno giving him a view of life infomred by the city as well as rural areas. He found a love for sharing the stories of his community and is passionate about informing underrepresented communities on the policies affecting them.
