California voters on Nov. 4 approved Proposition 50, the ballot measure to redraw the state’s congressional map in favor of Democrats. The new boundaries could flip up to five Republican seats and secure several vulnerable Democratic incumbents, giving the party an advantage in next year’s battle for control of the U.S. House.

The California Secretary of State is expected to certify the results on Dec. 12.
