Legislature heightens suspense on key bills

Assembly Bill 28 : Create an excise tax on guns to fund a violence prevention program.
AB 280 : Limit solitary confinement in prisons and jails — a revision to a similar measure last year, which Newsom vetoed .
Senate Bill 2 :Restrict public areas where concealed firearms can be carried, such as playgrounds, hospitals and stadiums.
SB 14 : Increase punishments for child sex trafficking. As I chronicled last week, the highly contentious bill was put on the suspense file, much to the chagrin of Republicans .
SB 50 : Prevent police stops for low-level traffic violations, including a broken headlight or bumper, to reduce racial profiling and harassment of female drivers .
